Charters Towers Show The Charters Towers Show is the annual event of the Towers Pastoral, Agricultural and Mining Association Incorporated. There are Equestrian, Stud and Prime cattle, Poultry and Pigeons, Caged birds, Cavy, Boer goats, and, on the Sunday morning, a Dog Show event. They also have competitions in craft, baking, art, fruit and vegetables, orchids, roses, crochet, knitting, sewing, leather work, wood turning and a school student art displays to name a few. The site also has the Showman's Guild rides and sideshow alley plus Show traders from all over Australia. Come, stay Monday night and join in the fun on Tuesday too!
Festivals and Celebrations
All Australian Jamboree The All Australian Jamboree is a festival in which only Australian Country Music is performed. The competitors are from all age groups: Peewee to Golden Oldies. Traditional is a special section in which songs recorded before 1965 are sung "unplugged", which means no microphone and the guitar is not amplified.
Charters Towers Country Music Festival Charters Towers Country Music Festival, commenced in 1978, is a friendly, family orientated festival with competitions Saturday and Sunday. Thousands of country music fans and performers from throughout Australia and overseas flock to see some of the biggest names in the country music industry who are showcased in special cabarets on Friday and Saturday nights and attend the Gold Queensland Country Music Award Grand Final on Sunday night.
Ten Days in the Towers Ten Days in the Towers festival includes the All Australian Jamboree and the Charters Towers Country Music Festival. There are many activities run throughout the festival which include Line Dancing, Bush Poetry, Concerts, Markets, Talent Quests, Busking, Tours and much more. Bring your family along and enjoy the Ten Days in the Towers festival.
Goldfield Ashes Cricket Carnival
Charters Towers is host to the annual cricket carnival where over 200 cricket teams descend on the town over the Australia Day long weekend. 2010 was the towns 62nd year hosting.
